Ms. Koller's second graders used Popplet to record some major events in their young lives. When it came time to send their finished work to their teacher, they used a newly adopted system called eBackpack. eBackpack gives our students a way to digitally submit work through the cloud from their iPads. Teachers can grade the submitted work through the iPad app or through their computer's browser and return the graded work digitally.  This week's hAPPy Friday app is Ask3, a free app that is on our student iPads for grades 3-5. Ask3 is a TechSmith experiment in turning a class of individuals into a high-performing team. Ask3 turns classroom iPads into recordable whiteboards enabling peer-to-peer teaching and collaboration, focused on team-building and student collaboration.  hAPPy Friday! ABC Magnets HD is a digital version of the age old favorite alphabet fridge magnets. This paid version is on our elementary iPads and includes upper case, lower case, numbers, punctuation, and 3 sets of icons. Each magnet comes in 6 different colors (e.g. red, green, blue, azure, pink, and yellow). Magnet size and sound effects can be managed in the settings. Multiple backgrounds are available as well. Ms. O's class caught up with our globetrotting friend once again this week. He helped Ms. O's class learn more about France and even sang Happy Birthday in French to one of our friends! As a class, Ms. O's second graders worked to share this reflection with us:
Today we celebrated our new playground with a special assembly that included special guests who worked on our new playground project. We learned from our guests that it took a dedicated team of teachers, students, architects, civil engineers, project managers, maintenance workers and administrators to design, finance, build, and maintain our beautiful new playground. To thank all of those people, Ms. Williamson, Mr. Mancuso, and Ms. Murphy (with the help of a lot of other Bridge Pointers) created this video to honor our old playground and celebrate our lovely new play space.  Each month at Bridge Point we highlight a Life Skill that helps students become more successful human beings and citizens of Earth. During that month our school is on the lookout to spot, celebrate, and talk about that month's Life Skill. We work as a school community to reinforce the skill with our actions, words and positive role-modeling of that skill. Each Life Skill starts with a small kick off at assembly to introduce the skill. Sometimes there are skits, movies or dances to help our students understand the Life Skill of the Month. October's Life Skill is Healthy Choices and a few of our talented 5th graders created this movie to tell us all about making Healthy Choices. Students "caught" making Healthy Choices will be rewarded with an apple to put on our Life Skills board and recognized daily at assembly.
